Prophet vs Jobber
Jobber is one of the most popular tools for home service businesses. Here's how it compares with Prophet on the part that eats the most time: building and fixing the daily schedule.
Competitor details checked October 28, 2026 from public sources listed below.
The short version
Prophet or Jobber?
Jobber is a well-known, all-round business tool with a lower starting price for small teams. You still build most of the schedule yourself: you place visits on the calendar and run route optimization when you want it. Prophet is built around the schedule itself. It assigns jobs to the right person and day, orders the stops, and re-plans when the day changes.
Choose Prophet if
- Building and fixing the schedule takes up a big part of your day
- You want jobs assigned automatically by skills, hours and time windows
- Your days change often: jobs run long, finish early or come in same-day
Choose Jobber if
- You're a one or two person shop and price comes first
- You want Jobber's wider set of marketing and client-hub tools
- You prefer to place every job on the calendar yourself

Prophet vs Jobber at a glance
How the day gets planned
Jobber: You schedule visits on the calendar. Route optimization orders a person's visits when you run it.

When the day changes
Jobber: You adjust the calendar and re-run routing.
Prophet: Re-plans the rest of the day on its own when a job runs long or finishes early.

Where Jobber falls short for route-heavy crews
- Scheduling is still your job. Jobber helps you place and order visits, but someone still decides who goes where and on which day.
- Routing is described as basic. Some reviewers describe Jobber's built-in route optimization as basic, especially for long days with many stops.
- Reporting depth depends on the plan. Custom reports are only on Jobber's most expensive plan.
- Cost grows with the team. Each user beyond your plan's included seats adds $29 a month, and the 15-user Plus plan is $699 a month on monthly billing.
Where Jobber is stronger
Jobber may be the better choice for some businesses:
- A lower starting price, especially for a solo owner or a very small team.
- A mature product with a large user community, plus marketing and receptionist add-ons.
- Annual billing discounts if you're ready to commit for a year.
